How many videos are there?

All sections have a minimum of 3 videos at one time. We also have an extensive library of Basic/Level 1 introductory partnering and footwork videos.

How often are videos released?

There is no set schedule for release of new videos. The site has an extensive video library from which students can work with, and Masacote periodically adds new videos to complement the library. Current videos in our archive include the following sections: Partnering videos, Footwork & Styling, The Music Corner Instruction, and Specialty videos (such as Spinning and Movement).

How long are videos left up for?

Masacote.TV periodically changes videos to match our syllabus; most videos remain on the site for a considerable amount of time, but as we update our syllabus we replace and update the video library. Our Basic/Level 1 Partnering and Footwork Videos remain on the site for the lifetime of the service.

What style of Salsa do you teach?

We teach NY Style On 2, a very popular style of Salsa danced in clubs around the globe. We place special attention on dancing to the rhythm of the congas, called tumbao, a syncopated timing of the music.

What levels do you teach?

We teach all levels, from Absolute Beginner to the Skilled Professional.

I am used to hearing Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced. How do I correspond to your levels?

As the terms Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced are used loosely and vary widely across different schools, at Masacote, we use a number system for Level differentiation. We believe each Level requires a certain set of skills and understanding.

Generally, we would provide the following comparisons…

  • Basic & Level 1: Introductory Student
  • Level 2: Beginner
  • Level 3: Advanced Beginner
  • Level 4: Intermediate
  • Level 5: Advanced Intermediate
  • Level 6: Advanced

We would suggest starting at the lowest level and working your way up until you get to an appropriate level of challenge. This way, you also get a full scope of our technique and learn moves by name.

What does “Open Pattern” mean?

We refer to our highest level of patterns and footwork as “Open”. This means patterns are longer and/or we have taken bigger liberties in the material and broken the standard rules of the dance to provide more music and dance interplay.

What are the system requirements?

We recommend that members watch videos while being connected to a LAN line or over a reliable internet connection. The main system requirements for desktop will be flash and javascript being enabled in a user’s browser.

What devices are supported?

Masacote.TV is built primarily for the desktop, but users should receive good playback on other portable devices. Masacote.TV has been tested on the iPad, iPhone3+, and some Android devices.

There’s no gaurantee that mobile will always work correctly, but we continue to work on improving our mobile support and encourage you to try it on your devices.
